Today my first rangefinder camera arrived… there is another coming too… both were cheap, but this is the one I am most excited about. A Fuji GSW690!
It all seems to work okay, the shutter and aperture particularly, and the rangefinder itself is seemingly okay too. I suspect the light seals are shot (there had to be something for this price!) but that is a cheap… if not easy… fix!
I am going to run the Kodak Gold through it first, and if I can a roll of Lomography Earl Grey tomorrow, so that I can process it along with the roll in the 617 on Thursday morning and see how the camera performs, and if the light seals need changing now or if they have some life left in them yet.
The final analogue camera (for now) is a smaller range finder as I scratch a 35 year old itch! This one isn’t the ultimate destination of this journey, but it was cheap enough to have a go with and see if this is, indeed, the route I want to take with my 35mm work or if I want to stick with mechanical SLRs or something else entirely!
On the medium format front… I think there are a couple more things I want to try yet!
To be honest, I am just loving playing with really old, vintage, kit and seeing what it can do and what creative doors it opens for me. Cheap charity shop finds will probably still continue to be pursued and I am even thinking of building a wee display set up with lights to enjoy my unusual finds!
